Sundara
DSH - Female - DOB April 17 2023
Sundara is beautiful but she is a bit of a drama queen. She needs a family looking for a cat whose personality is “outside the box". She came to NHKR with kittens which she raised outdoors. It's taken a while for her to calm down and become accustomed to indoor living - which she has discovered the benefits of and does not attempt to go outside. Sundara loves to play and enthusiastically chases toys, bounding everywhere at full speed. She is fearless and must investigate everything - jumping into the refrigerator, dishwasher, any open drawers.... and she ignores any direction to cease doing this. Sundara has fully embraced the idea that cats have staff; she will request to be picked up only to then want down again. She will settle in a lap but leave if she receives pets…or on a whim she may decide to stay. She is chatty and enjoys a good conversation but you are expected to know what she wants. Sundara learns instantly; if you do something she approves of, it must be repeated. She considers herself royalty and eats on the cat scratcher as the floor is for the "others" and she prefers fresh water from the sink. In return for being her servant you will laugh multiple times a day, be mentally stimulated and have company under the covers at night. She allows her nails to be done with verbal protests and wiggling. Sundara must smell/ sample everything that could be food, but she doesn't necessarily want to eat it - she is not food motivated.
When fostered with other cats she initially hissed and swatted at them creating lots of drama, when they ignored her she soon stopped and gets along with both males and females but she will not tolerate kittens. She had no reaction to meeting a friendly dog. Her new owners must be tolerant experienced cat people who have other pets or time to engage and challenge her.
