About Us
Purpose
NHKR was founded in July 2011 to rescue stray and abandoned kittens within Halton Hills. Shortly thereafter we were able to include cats of all ages.
We are a registered non-profit charity of dedicated volunteers working collectively in a supportive and respectful environment to provide an affordable alternative to buying or obtaining free kittens or cats. We nurture and socialize kittens and cats in foster homes until they are healthy, spayed/neutered and ready to be adopted into their new family.
Resources
Anyone adopting from NHKR, may contact us at any time if they have cat concerns.
Trapping
Our volunteers trap or apprehend stray/abandoned kittens and cats that are located within Halton Hills.
TNR
NHKR provides TNR (trap, neuter, return) to manage feral cat colonies. All cats trapped are vaccinated, parasite treated, spayed/neutered and returned if there is a dedicated colony caretaker(s). Otherwise the cat is relocated to a similar environment where a caretaker is present.
Lost Cat Assistance
We lend out cat traps and provide trapping information to assist owners whose indoor cats have escaped outdoors.
Quarantine
Currently NHKR assists Halton Public Health providing quarantine for possible rabies. (Halton Hills felines only)
