Blackberry
DSH - Female - DOB February 14 2023
Blackberry came into NHKR care very hesitant to trust humans. With time and patience in her foster home she has made outstanding progress with building relationships with trusted people. When meeting someone new, she will start off erring on the side of caution and can be timid. It could take her a couple of weeks in her new home to gain confidence and feel safe. When she is uncomfortable she will express her feelings by hissing, with wariness rather than aggression. Once Blackberry feels that she can trust her people she begins to let her guard down and show her vulnerable side. She doesn't mind being held for short periods of time. She loves being kissed...her foster mom smothers her with kisses and Blackberry will purr and drool with delight. She loves her ears being gently rubbed and long strokes of petting. She is getting accustomed to being brushed with a silicone brush and nail trims need to be done by someone experienced. She is very tidy in her litter box and has respect for the home and her people's belongings. Blackberry does like to nibble on plants and so her new family will want to ensure that all plants are cat safe and not accessible to her. Blackberry could spend hours in her foster's enclosed cat patio or sitting on the cat perch looking out the window. She has a playful personality but is also content to just chill on a comfy sofa. Blackberry does prefer to be the only cat in her household. She gets along with the feline-friendly dog in her foster home. She prefers the company of older children who have experience with cats and will respect her occasional need for space. Blackberry is a lovely girl who will be the delight of her new family.
